I have always been an extremely private person. I was talking with someone the other day and they said that I needed to be more open – “people want to know what’s going in your life. They are looking for details.”
Well, I am willing to share more of me… but I still reserve the right to keep intensely personal things just that – personal.
I can share an experience, a testimony, that could help someone. We can talk about where I went on vacation, what God is doing in my life…exactly how he’s shaping and molding – in what ways he’s transforming my mind – changing attitudes and mindsets – I could give specific examples – but if I want to keep romantic dinners with my husband private I can do that, right? (chuckling…).
I can share my laughter, and some tears…0f joy or sadness. I will even share deep thoughts, but only some. I will give you details unreservedly, but only some… brokenness, that I can let you see… and triumph too… overcomer status….
I will… give you a chance… to get to know — me. Talk to you again real soon…

Wow. What an event. This was a rich experience. I have been trying for a long time now to get some real talk and we got it at this Conference. At the end of the day many Independent Artists (in attendance) who are truly interested in honing their craft would agree that the information we received, if used correctly, can only make us better at our craft and the presentation of the message. We are also more equipped to both connect and work together with industry stakeholders who can provide the assistance we need for a more refined process. I truly appreciate Phillip Carter and Earl Bynum for their vision. The content greatly exceeded expectations… and I love that we “had church” in the midst of it all.

Quite a lot has happened since I returned from the concert in St. Croix Virgin Islands. I have been juggling ministry tasks and events with my day to day assignments….arrggghhhhh… challenging but rewarding. I haven’t had as much time as I used to for my social networking, but I’m getting back to it. I am just grateful for all that is happening right now. Looking forward to the Indie Artist Gospel Alliance Conference in Virginia….excited about meeting a lot of people that I was introduced to and now “socialize” with on facebook. I’m trying to carve out more time to manage marketing functions, but it’s getting tight. I had someone lined up in April to shoot a video for my song Live Right and that did not work out, but I am still going to do it – just have to find someone else. I am starting a fan newsletter. I used to just send the information out via e-mail, but I want a more refined look to share my “Awesome Happenings”….whew! More to come soon…

…I am so excited about what God is doing in my music ministry. It feels like He suddenly opened a door and a perpetually refreshing shower of rain is pouring over my life. I am humbled, excited, revived, weary, exhilarated, refreshed… I KNOW, a wonderful contradiction… His grace is sufficient.

What fuels your creative process…? Do you allow your experiences to shape the form of your sound or do you listen for another’s and then try to replicate…? I wouldn’t trade MY “heartsounds”. They define my lyrical moods – shape melodies that even though replicated by another are not the same – without MY essence… That hidden element that God gave to only me. What fuels your creative process…?

I love it when creativity flows, like a river, like the ocean, like a force – unstoppable – relentlessly expanding – exploding – imploding – Nonstop Soul Sound. I love it when creativity flows, like a river, like the ocean, like a force – unstoppable.

“Thea Harris has done it again, with the release of her new single Live Right. Her voice is a unique combination of the smooth rhythms of jazz, the boldness of soul and penetrating depths of gospel. The song is like a breath of fresh air that carries a message of hope. Thea Harris is not merely an artist, but an instrument of God, utilizing her gift to usher in His presence as she yields to the Holy Spirit in a lifestyle that is an uninhibited expression of worship.” (PR.com Press Release)
